WHAT IS PAH?

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a CMR group of compounds (carcinogenic, mutagentic and reprotoxic) that accumulate in the environment because of its persistent, bio-accumulative character. PAH enters the environment through air and eventually gets into the food chain, accumulating in the fatty tissues when consumed - causing irreparable damage. Among more than 100 different PAH identified, 16 have been found to have potential impact - four of which have been identified as more critical (PAH 4). Limits have been fixed for the same in various foods - including algae - by EU regulation 2015/1993. Exposure to these PAHs is linked to lung, liver, and skin cancers.

Oonaiyur, South India

Our manufacturing unit is located in Oonaiyur, South India, away from industrial, agricultural and human settlements. Spread over 130 acres with a pristine ground water supply, Parry's Spirulina is cultivated free of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers, in controlled conditions, monitored on a daily basis to prevent contamination.

The location provides a conducive environment for Organic Spirulina cultivation with an ideal high temperature of 86°F to 102°F (30°C to 39°C), low rainfall, low humidity and the right amount of sunlight through the year.
