About Parry Lutein / Zeaxanthin
Lutein and zeaxanthin are naturally occurring fat-soluble antioxidant carotenoids widely found in green leafy vegetables and various yellow to orange-colored fruits and flowers.
One of the richest sources of lutein and zeaxanthin in nature is marigold flowers.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are termed “Macular Pigments” as they are most prominent in the Lens and Macula regions of the eye and have been shown to play a prominent role in maintaining eye health. Lutein effectively controls free radical generation and the resulting oxidation damage, through its ability to filter out blue wavelengths of light like ultraviolet rays, which causes damage to the skin and eyes.
Lutein & zeaxanthin are found in marigold flower petals and are chemically bound to various types of fatty acids. In these cases, it is said that lutein is esterified and is commonly known as lutein ester. Parry Lutein Esters are derived from marigold flowers, which is a rich, safe and natural source for lutein.
